Boise and Idaho Offer a Small-Town Feel and Low Crime Rate

Is it possible for a city to have lots of people, but still seem like a small town? Many residents and visitors alike are amazed at how Boise, a relatively large city, doesn't feel like one. At 206,000 residents, Boise's largest city isn't all that big either. Boise's small-town charm is one of the biggest propellers for the id real estate market, as Boise and Idaho almost always receives rave reviews from individuals, companies, and big-time news companies alike. Who wants to buy a home where they don't feel safe and comfortable? We'll give you a few reasons to give id real estate a look or two (or three)!Big and Small
Maybe Boise still feels small because it's surrounded by lots of open spaces. It's basically the opposite feeling in the city of trees than you would get in Los Angeles or any other city where everything is built right on top of each other. Few major American cities have a gorgeous river running a mile or two from downtown that you could drop a line in on your lunch break (and actually feel good about eating your catch). Boise, surrounded by mountains and desert, home to deer and people who like living in a semi-urban, semi-wilderness environment, is a place where you'll know your neighbor and run into friends while getting groceries. It's truly an ideal location--small enough to feel comfortable and big enough to have everything you need.Friendly Folks
It's funny to hear someone from the East Coast talk about their first experience in Boise. Usually they are blown away by how friendly everyone is and say something like "why do people start talking to me randomly when I'm out and about" or "people smile and wave a lot and it makes me wonder if I know them", but to Idahoans its nothing out of the ordinary. Think about how nice it is to not worry that your neighbors will try to steal your stuff, but rather have them offer to watch your dog when you go out of town. Those are the little things that make buying id real estate and living in Idaho so great. Idaho is up-to-date in business and technology, but its lifestyle tends bring you back to simpler, nicer times.Crime Rate
Idaho's crime rate is far below the national average, which shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Meridian, the suburban city that Boise runs together with, is about 50% below the national average for crime according to areavibes.com. Crime is not heard of very frequently at all in Idaho. Though it's not smart to let Idaho's low crime levels make you so casual about safety that you leave your bikes or car unlocked like some Idahoans do, it is so nice to feel safe in your home or out doing your activities. Idaho is very active in shutting down problems that occur; for example, when gang activity rose a bit in Caldwell, Idaho law enforcement and politicians took strong action against it by enacting laws that effectively squashed the problem. Idaho's crimeless environment helps to make Id real estate sought-after and increases the value of homes in the state.Buying Id real estate is a smart idea for all that it will bring to your life and a wise investment as well. Your agent will be able to help you acclimate into life in Idaho, providing you with extremely useful information from a to z. This much we can promise: you will have a peaceful and wonderful time in the Gem State.
