Scenic Summer Campgrounds in Ririe, Idaho

          The Campgrounds within the community of Ririe are a unique Idaho gem as there are many area attractions that draw visitors to this wonderfully scenic area. When camping in the area, there is so much variety and fun to be had. Making a weekend trip comes easier with so many opportunities nearby, including countless outdoor activities and perhaps locations ideal for much-needed relaxation. A few area destinations that make this area so popular include Green Canyon Hot Springs, Heise Hot Springs, Paddlesack Lake, Kelly Creek Trail, Kelly Canyon Ski Resort - Bike Trails, Ririe Reservoir, Blacktail Park, Cress Creek Nature Trail, Snake River, Heise Hills Golf Course, Cedar Park Golf Course, Jefferson Hills Golf Course, Heise Zip Lining, ATV trails, and a bit further out Fall Creek Falls, and Palisades Reservoir. Keep in mind that the only two public access points at Ririe Reservoir are Blacktail Park and Juniper Campground. It’s a gold mine of outdoor activities! There is also a boat ramp with access to the Snake River back on E. Heise Road/Burns Creek Road for added convenience, as well as Byington Boat Ramp on the other side of the river. There are a host of area trails and many trails popular among ATV’s and dirtbikes. Camping is, of course, going to be available outside of the summer months at most of these locations, so be sure to check on opening dates if wanting to head out sooner.

Luthy Meadow Camp Site (a.k.a. Sheep Corals) - Ririe, ID 83443

          Luthy Meadow Camp Site is located about 9 +/- miles from the community of Heise within the Targhee National Forest. The main draw to this area for many is the surroundings of being in the forest among nature. The campsite primarily sits nestled in a clearing. There are surrounding trees, though, not much in the means of shade within the clearing itself. There are no amenities offered here, which means no hookups, no water, no toilets, just the wide-open skies, beautiful views, and room to roam.

          Things to do in the surrounding areas: This campground is an excellent option for those who want to take advantage of all the fun at Kelly Canyon Ski Area & Trails, and continue the excitement by extending a day trip into a weekend adventure. This campground is also an excellent option for those who wish to enjoy the water sport activity opportunities at the Snake River, Heise Hot Springs, possibly a day ATVing, or perhaps exploring the forest and enjoying nature. There is no reported fee for camping at this location. This destination is located approximately 40 +/- miles from the city of Idaho Falls and about 34 +/- miles from the city of Rexburg.

Wolf Flats Recreation Area - Burns Creek Road, Ririe, Idaho

           Located alongside the Snake River in Ririe, Idaho, this destination is not one to be missed. A local treasure, the Wolf Flats Recreation Area is a favorite among many. This area is surrounded by things to do that will keep you coming back time and time again.

          The campsites are nestled just off the road for ease of access for those who may have trailers in tow. The grounds are mostly private and boast abundant tree life for shaded areas. Remarkable scenic and sunset views from the river's edge are a highlight to the site. The road is mostly gravel and not paved therefore may have washboard sections and the campsites may have deep potholes depending on the severity of the most recent winter season/rainy season. During the busy season, the road directly to the campsites is well known to boast moderate to high traffic as this area is quite popular for ATV/OHV use and dirt biking. Due to the proximity to the river waters, this area is frequented by mosquitos. This is a no-fee location, with a pack in pack out directive.

Table Rock Campground - Ririe, Idaho 83443

          Wildflowers, a mix of Aspen & Pine Trees, trails and a creek are the epitome of the beautiful Table Rock Campground. This is a large group campground that is geared toward accommodating up to 200 people. Due to the closeness in proximity to Wolf Flats Recreation, the surrounding outdoor area activity opportunities are the same. This location would be ideal for a getaway feel to refresh before the start of the next week ahead. This area is popular among those who enjoy area exploration, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, ATV’s, and nature.

          Amenities at this location include vault toilets, picnic tables, fire pits with grills, and spacious sites. The campground is well off the main road, so traffic noise is minimal.

          There is a fee to camp at Table Rock Campground. The last reported cost to camp at Table Rock Campground is $50 per night for up to 25 people and $1 for each person. Also, reservations are required.

Kelly Island Campground - Ririe, Idaho 83443

          The Kelly Island Campground is located within proximity to the delightful Snake River and boasts terrific scenic views. The area is spotted with a host of mature Cottonwood Trees and is the ideal location for an evening by the campfire. There are pull-through sites and a day-use area.

          This campground does offer a group site. There is a fee to camp at the Kelly Island Campground. The last reported cost per night was $10.00 for a single, $20.00 for a double, and the group campsite $35.00. The group site is the only site that may be reserved in advance. Amenities include vault toilets, fire pits, picnic tables, water, and vault toilets. This destination is located approximately 23 +/- miles from the city of Idaho Falls and about 21 +/- miles from the city of Rexburg.

Juniper Campground - Meadow Creek Road, Ririe, Idaho 83443

          The Juniper Campground alongside Ririe Reservoir is a fabulous location for all including large RV’s. The surroundings are filled with area greenery and trees and lined with asphalt pathways. Discover room for sprawling out and enjoying generous space to enjoy the day for individuals and large groups. Some of the campsites boast views across the tops of the water. This area has been known to be quite spectacular for sunsets. There is not much in the means of shade for this campground though it is still very green. Ririe Reservoir is a popular destination for its fishing opportunities for Yellow Perch, Smallmouth Bass, and Rainbow Trout, to name a few.

          The B & C Loop Sites remain for first come first serve occupants. The last reported fee for camping at Juniper Campground is $5/day and $20/tent area and dry dock camping or $25/full hookups. The amenities at this location include picnic tables, pet-friendly, basketball courts, fire rings, a boat launch, mooring slips, fishing and destination docks, and vault toilets.
