Overall, the homes of Southwest Boise are not as luxurious or costly as many of the homes closer to downtown. While there are quite a few homes for sale here that cost over $800K, the vast majority are under $250K. You may find a condo or a large ranch, though again, most of the properties for sale in the area are unassuming and modest, though beautiful, single-family homes of any age on under one-quarter of an acre.

Overland Road, which cuts through the neighborhoods parallel to the freeway, offers an array of eateries, services, and entertainment. You can find grocery stores, computer shops, retail, business offices, restaurants, hotels and a lot more nearby.

If you need more than the businesses along Overland Road can give you, Southwest Boise is right between the centers of Boise and Meridian, and either can help you. Boise's downtown area is larger, more varied, and often more crowded, with shopping, entertainment, restaurants, specialized services, local history, the Boise River and Greenbelt, and proximity to the foothills and Ridge to Rivers Trail System. Meridian's downtown is growing fast and also offers all the shopping, entertainment, and services anyone could need. Additionally, the interstate and multiple highways run through or close to Southwest Boise, ensuring residents can get to Kuna, Nampa, Caldwell, Mountain Home, and beyond without much hassle.

Currently, Southwest Boise is mostly inside the Meridian School District, which offers respected schools and multiple specialized educational programs. For example, the district offers multiple magnet schools for arts, science, math, technology, literacy, language, and culture. Parents/guardians can also find elementary schools with a modified calendar (year-round) and all the schools have access to gifted/talented programs.
